Haritha Karma Sena (HKS) is a volunteer workforce functioning under the leadership of Local Self-Government Institutions (LSGIs). Its primary responsibility is to collect non-biodegradable waste that has been segregated at the source from households and institutions, further sort it, and hand it over for scientific processing and recycling. Operating in accordance with the guidelines of the Suchitwa Mission, the Haritha Karma Sena plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness, promoting effective waste management, and protecting the environment.
Major Responsibilities:
Collection of non-biodegradable waste from households and institutions.
Segregation of collected waste and handing it over to authorized recycling agencies.
Creating public awareness about source-level waste segregation and management.
Promoting cleanliness and environmental conservation.
Supporting the scientific processing and recycling of recyclable waste, including plastic.
