Main Responsibilities of the Health and Education Standing Committee of a Panchayat
- Supervising public health activities, disease prevention programmes, and sanitation initiatives within the Panchayat.
- Reviewing the functioning of health institutions such as Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and sub-centres, and recommending measures for improvement.
- Examining matters related to public health, including drinking water supply, sanitation, and waste management.
- Coordinating communicable disease control programmes, immunization drives, and health awareness campaigns.
- Supervising the functioning of pre-primary, primary, and upper primary educational institutions within the Panchayat.
- Recommending measures to improve the quality of education and enhance learning facilities for students.
- Reviewing issues related to school infrastructure development, sanitation, and safety.
- Promoting literacy programmes, continuing education initiatives, and educational development schemes.
- Monitoring student health, nutrition, and school health programmes.
- Reviewing the implementation and progress of government schemes related to health and education.
- Performing any other health and education-related functions entrusted by the Panchayat Committee.
