Duties of the Panchayat Development Standing Committee
1. Core Responsibilities
Planning and Development: Lead the formulation of annual and five-year development plans for the socio-economic growth of the Panchayat.
Production Sectors: Oversee and develop key sectors including agriculture, soil conservation, animal husbandry, dairy development, small-scale industries, and fisheries.
Land Use: Regulate land use within the Panchayat limits and design projects to convert wasteland into cultivable land.
Co-operation: Coordinate and manage activities related to the co-operative sector.
2. Maintenance and Control
Oversee the construction and maintenance of public markets, public toilets, and slaughterhouses under the Panchayat.
Supervise Panchayat-owned farms and seed production centers.
Collect and maintain statistical data related to agriculture and allied sectors.
3. Financial and Administrative Powers
Prioritize projects and proposals related to the subjects under the committee's purview.
Review the progress of project implementation in these sectors and submit necessary recommendations to the Panchayat Committee.
Prepare the income and expenditure estimates related to development activities to be included in the annual budget.
