📖 What is Civic Duty?
Citizens have rights as participants in the system of governance. At the same time, they also have obligations to fulfill their duties and responsibilities towards society and the nation. These duties and responsibilities are known as civic duties.
🏛️ Article of the Indian Constitution 51A (1976)
- Respect the Constitution and uphold the national values.
- Protect public property and refrain from damaging it.
- Protect the environment, wildlife, and natural resources.
- Protect the dignity and rights of women.
- Promote scientific temper and oppose superstitions.
- Promote religious harmony and brotherhood.
- Uphold the unity and integrity of the nation.
- Be prepared to serve the nation during times of emergency and necessity.
🏘️ Panchayati Raj Act (1994, 1999)
Every citizen residing within the jurisdiction of the Gram Panchayat is required to fulfill the following responsibilities.

🤝 Social Responsibility
- Assist in social audits.
- Strengthen social unity and cohesion.
🚫 Against Corruption and Maladministration
- Remain vigilant to prevent corruption.
- Report illegal activities.
- Support democratic governance.
🚭 Against Social Evils
- Work against alcoholism and drug abuse.
- Prevent dowry, violence against women, and child labour.
🐕 Protection of Domestic Animals
- Obtain a license.
- Help ensure public health and safety.
⚖️ Law Abidance
- Obey laws and regulations..
- Ensure public peace and order.

- Uphold gender equality.
- Ensure social justice.
- Participate in initiatives promoting equality.
